SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 20, 2006— Multicore Expo booth # 7 and Embedded Systems Conference booth # 3323

Teja Technologies Inc., the leading supplier of embedded networking and communications software for multi-core processor architectures, today announced Teja FP, the first and only platform that enables network OEMs to implement their designs in software on FPGAs with multiple embedded processors, resulting in rapid development of flexible systems optimized for performance, power and cost.

"Network OEMs have been looking for a way to take advantage of the flexibility of FPGAs while still maintaining their flexible software design methodologies," stated Steve Lass, senior director of Software Product Marketing at Xilinx. "Raising the design abstraction to high-level languages such as C empowers software programmers to implement and accelerate their designs in programmable hardware. The development of practical design tools and flows in support of this methodology is one of the key tenets of our ESL Initiative, and the focus of our joint collaboration with Teja."

Teja FP's unique design methodology and scaleable infrastructure allow network OEMs to achieve target performance more quickly by simultaneously designing both hardware and software in ANSI C. With Teja FP, system architects and software engineers can design an entire FPGA-based system, including the hardware architecture, in the widely used C language instead of RTL, and without relying on C-to-RTL conversion. Teja FP includes pre-designed multi-processor fabric components plus other IP elements that are easily assembled, configured, and managed through APIs by engineers without a deep knowledge of multi-processing.

Teja FP currently supports the Xilinx(R) Virtex(TM)-4 FX flagship family of FPGAs and includes the multi-core infrastructure IP, a rich set of APIs, and productivity tools. Teja also provides a library of data plane applications in extensible source code, a critical element for embedded designers to jump-start their programs. The combination of source-level applications, tools, and infrastructure provides network OEMs the ability to create high-performance solutions customized exactly to their specifications on a Xilinx FPGA sized exactly to that solution.

Adding embedded processors to the FPGA introduces a new dimension to a device already recognized for its flexibility. Now with the ability to design both software and hardware simultaneously, OEMs have the potential to capitalize on the flexibility of both, including: unlimited customizability; quick design turns and access to common C tools; hardware accelerators co-located with processors; resource sizing to optimize performance, cost and power; and high-performance I/O integration. The increase in network speeds to gigabit Ethernet and beyond is pushing performance beyond the capability of single processors and into the realm of multi-core programming. Because the underlying details of multi-core design and implementation are managed by the Teja FP infrastructure and tools, only the Teja FP platform enables OEMs to target their extensive software code base to FPGAs with embedded processors.

"As the average price for FPGAs trends down, network OEMs are increasingly turning to these devices for more than ancillary functions in their systems designs," stated David Stepner, Teja Technologies' president and CEO. "With the arrival of Teja FP, we not only open a broad new market for the company, but also become the only company delivering a platform that allows OEMs to take full advantage of the flexibility of FPGAs."

Early access to Teja FP is available now, with general availability in Q3 2006. Teja and Xilinx will be presenting at the Multicore Expo in Santa Clara, California from March 21st - 23rd in booth 7. Teja will also be present at Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, California from April 3rd - 7th in booth 3323. For more information, visit www.teja.com/xilinx.
